Space for encounters across generations and backgrounds
In a time when people increasingly live around each other instead of with each other, a spontaneous encounter is invaluable. Society yearns for connection, especially considering the rising rates of loneliness among young people, the elderly, and newcomers. By actively bringing together students, refugees, refugees, and the elderly, special encounters arise where knowledge, stories, and perspectives are shared. Students bring energy and fresh ideas, the elderly share life experience, and refugees demonstrate enormous resilience and hope. This mix is unique and connects.
To facilitate these encounters, three different spaces have been designed, each with its own function that encourages connection. 'Tagamo el Mahaba' is the communal kitchen, where people cook and eat together. By literally rolling up their sleeves, connections are naturally created. 'Moerstaal' is the learning and meeting space, where conversations take place, workshops are held, and guest speakers share their stories. This is a place where people learn and listen to each other. The "Creative Lounge" is a living room and creative space all in one, where people meet for creative workshops or simply relax together. Doing something together lowers the barrier to connecting and creates a natural foundation for new relationships.
