The world is trapped on eight tracks of tape. I can picture it clearly, I hear it. The whole world, on that one single piece of tape, in my hands. It’s a miracle. I place the tape in the recorder, close my eyes, press play, listen. On every track exactly the same happens and yet everything is different, the little hairs are pointing in different directions. Somewhere left I hear a rumble and a bang on the right, and somewhere else it’s the other way around and somewhere it is silent.
Ik dacht dat er te weinig ruimte was. Alles was te veel. Ik te vol, het ik paste niet in deze huid, het vlees niet in de ruimte, niet tussen het andere vlees. Elke mok op aarde overstroomde, elke schors barstte.
Caya Rosa creates using rubbish, tape and language. This gives rise to programmes, sounds, performances, events, essays, prose poetry and poetic prose. Previously, she organised ‘Poëzie op Plaats’, published with De Kluger Hans, created literary installations with the TAST collective, and performed at the ‘Rave voor de Rafelranden’. Sometimes things flow, and often things break – but collectivity is always at the heart of it.
