A Good Day to Set Out

In an environment largely surrounded by ice, I am present as an observer, simply to observe this location. I analyse how this massive form gradually transforms into a liquid, and record the hidden beauties within this process of transformation.

A good day is one whose outcome I do not know. The general outlines are familiar, but I have no idea what I will actually encounter. In the same way, I approach my project: I find myself in a place without knowing exactly what is there, or where the next step will lead.

I therefore approach the project “ H₂O(s) → H₂O(l) ” as a journey. A journey in which I allow myself to be amazed by chance. My path begins where the world slows down, and the landscape consists almost entirely of vast ice formations. An overwhelming place that leaves a deep impression. Here, I become fascinated by the imposing icebergs, shaped by nothing other than the forces of nature. This raw creation forms the point of departure for my work. By breaking these images apart and zooming in on the interplay of lines hidden within these ice formations, new and intriguing creations emerge. These constructed fragments form the foundation for a footwear collection. But just as in nature, nothing is static. This collection evolves from something solid and imposing into something that gradually becomes more flexible, each piece in the collection represents a stage in this transformation.
