Agathe Leira Madsen

I find environment and dynamics extremely important for the creative process. At this moment in time, I see relevance in the openness and agency I hold to feed a genuine and respectful working environment. I am a curious, dedicated, dreamy, explorative, compassionate and driven person eager to both share and absorb knowledge. I am passionate about explorations of bodily qualities and the relevance of emotional depths in movement. Creating resonance within others through the artistic expression would be my main goal, whether big or small. If there is a slight reaction no matter the form, be it emotional, provocation of thought, inner reflection, or evoking a sensation, I have the belief that it can go a long way in eventually cultivating necessary and meaningful change.

Throughout mentally demanding years, dance has become a place where I can meet myself honestly—a space where emotions are allowed to exist and be expressed without a filter. I believe in the power of being open, vulnerable, and authentic—both throughout the creative process and in performance—because it is here that genuine human connection can truly arise. To me, art is about creating space for resonance—to touch what is often suppressed or overlooked, both within ourselves and in others. I want to meet the audience human to human, using dance as a language to communicate what is so often left unspoken or avoided. Not to dictate a particular experience, but to share from an open heart and allow each person to carry forward whatever resonates with them. I believe that every movement carries an intention, and that real connection is created when we dare to meet one another on a deeper level. My experience with dance has taught me not only to explore the physical aspects of movement, but also the emotional and spiritual depths within ourselves. I find joy in creating an atmosphere where vulnerability and authenticity can flourish, allowing us to share our unique personal expression. I believe in the power of dance to build bridges between people and to foster understanding and empathy. Through dance, I hope to form genuine connections with others, celebrate the beauty of our shared humanity, and acknowledge the value of our differences and the ways they strengthen and uplift one another. My ambition is to contribute to the dance field by taking these values with me through my path and keep on sharing in these ways that I believe to be most meaningful.

I am much of a grandma who loves nature, crochet, drawing, and getting occupied with indulging into watching the tiny magics of life such as; a spider binding its web, water drops resting on leaves, branches wiggling in the breeze, or the real life glitter appearing on the hard icy layer of snow when the sun hits its surface. I believe that whilst being in this state of observative living we also enable ourselves to give more back into the beauty of the world through own creations, so it is through these everyday observations I find inspiration for own expression.

During my internship year I danced with TanzMainz in Staatstheater Mainz, Germany. There I got to both learn existing materials and be part of creation processes in which I joined the performances and rehearsals as a full time dancer. Various choreographers I performed works by wereSilva Ferreira, Moritz Ostruschnjak, Alan Lucien Øyen, Hanna Bylka-Kanecka and Felix Berner. I was lucky enough to go on tour with two different pieces, one in which we travelled internationally, and I had the chance to perform back home in Oslo for childhood friends and close family which is not to be taken for granted. In the end I had an incredibly enriching year with both physical challenges, magical experiences like the kids pieces for young audience of 3 year olds, and endless amount of reflections and meaningful discussions with my colleagues. I had the most wonderful year, and had many new experiences that will hold a special place in my heart.
