How do you shape success? For second-year Product Design students, this question formed the starting point of a special assignment. In collaboration with het Nederlands Vioolconcours, they designed new awards for the different competition categories.
Just as het Nederlands Vioolconcours supports young violinists in their development, this collaboration gave young designers the opportunity to grow as well. Working in groups of four, around twenty students developed their concepts. They explored what makes an award meaningful today. How do you make success tangible and sustainable, and how do you combine stage impact with personal value?

The students collaborated, presented their ideas, and developed prototypes. During the presentations, a winning design was selected on the spot, in the presence of Prince Constantijn. Prior to the presentations, he spoke with the students about design, technology, and teamwork.

The winning design, created by Fifi, Janine, Jasmijn, and Onno, draws inspiration from the expressive movements of violinists. Their concept will be further developed into the final award to be presented during the competition.
