Margarida: ‘Crossmedia Design is a bit of everything’
How do you describe yourself when you work with photography, design, wood and sculpture? For Margarida, a Crossmedia Design student at AKI ArtEZ Academy of Art & Design in Enschede, there is no one clear answer. ‘I often feel more like a designer than an artist.’ Her work is a way of dealing with what is happening around her.
Room to experiment
At Crossmedia Design, Margarida has the space to combine different disciplines and techniques. Photography and design play an important role in her work, while materials and spatial work also come together in her projects.
Exploring colour in typography
In her third year, Margarida explored the role of colour in typography. She created a book combining text, graphs and colourful pages. Her research focused on when, why and how colour can be used in typography. Through different graphs, she shows how colour can change the message of a text.
It is precisely this freedom to bring different interests together that appeals to her. ‘I like photography, design and sculpture. Crossmedia is a bit of everything. It was kind of perfect.’
