Jikke writes vulnerable, joyful, heartbroken and lovestruck songs with her band
Jikke talks about her band Liever and how it came together during the Ensemble Week of the Jazz & Pop programme at ArtEZ Academy of Music in Zwolle. The band first wrote a song in English, but it felt, in Jikke’s words, “pretty icky.” After translating it into Dutch as Enige trui, everything clicked. 'Wow, this is cool,' the band members thought. 'It’s Dutch-language music, but still experimental.' The result felt fresh and new, while also warm and raw.
