Dorka’s finals collection is a tribute to traditions and imperfections
- Fashion
"Nowadays we tend to aim for perfection, but those little cracks and imperfections make us us.” Fashion Design graduate Dorka Szabo believes we should embrace exactly that.

Hungarian traditions and rituals
Dorka grew up in Hungary, and that background forms the foundation of her finals collection. She drew inspiration from the traditions of her homeland. Reflections on the passage of time, the power of rituals, and what we pass on to the next generation.
Her collection is a celebration of those small cracks that make everything unique."
Dorka learned the craft from her mother and grandmother. Her finesse is visible in every piece of her collection - all hand-stitched. With this, she draws attention to the process behind each garment. Her work is an ode to heritage, memory, and the beauty of imperfection. Visible in the craftsmanship, in seams that are not smooth or straight, but instead tell a story.
In her work, Dorka Szabo brings together stories of transformation and cultural identity. Want to know more about her finals collection? Watch the video portrait:
At the Fashion Design programme at ArtEZ Academy of Art & Design Arnhem, the creative process takes centre stage. Students are encouraged to develop their own visual language and to combine craftsmanship and textiles with a critical view on the fashion field. The result: designs that tell a story.
