What is concept in interior design? - Preparatory programme - Preparatory programme - Zwolle

Why choose this preparatory programme?

You are around 14 years old or older, creative and have an eye for space and atmosphere. You want to find out whether a course in interior design is right for you.

Unique focus on concept development in interior design

You will not only learn how to design, but above all how to think like a designer: how do you build a concept? How do you shape it and how do you explain it? You will develop a solid theoretical basis and apply it in practice, for example in designing a space for a music festival.

Lessons from professionals in the field

You will receive guidance from interior architects and designers who work in the field themselves. This allows you to learn from real cases and current assignments. In six afternoons, you will learn how to turn an idea into a strong concept. You will discover how interior concepts are created, how to substantiate them and how to present them convincingly.

Flexible and personal

The course consists of three digital and three physical meetings. This means you will work partly online and partly at the academy, with personal guidance and group inspiration.  Everything you create can be used in your portfolio for admission.

After six afternoons, you will have a good understanding of the design process within the interior design world. However, you will not automatically be admitted to the programme. Would you like to continue with the Associate Degree in Interior Design? Then you will need to take an entrance exam. This preliminary process will help you strengthen your portfolio and prepare you optimally for that process.

After completion:

  • you will have a better understanding of the profession and the work process of an interior designer;
  • you will have concrete pieces of work that you can include in your admission portfolio;
  • you will know whether the Associate Degree in Interior Design is right for you.
