Music Theatre Preparatory programme - Preparatory programme - Arnhem

Admission audition

Admission rounds and location

The admission audition for the Music Theatre preparatory programme consists of two rounds, spread over several days. During each round, you will work in small groups varying in size. The auditions take place at the ArtEZ Academy of Music in Arnhem.

Assessment

The audition committee consists of a chairperson and experts from a range of disciplines. The committee will assess your creativity, authenticity, potential for development and skills in music and theatre.

First round: vocal/instrumental

The first round will test your basic musical skills (vocal or instrumental). At the end of this round, which lasts about an hour, we will let you know whether you’re through to the second round.

What do you need to prepare?
Once your registration has been processed and approved (see Admission requirements), you’ll receive a short musical fragment to study in advance.

In addition, you’ll need to prepare two self-chosen pieces of music for the first round. Choose works that show variety in style and tempo. They may be existing pieces, improvised, self-written, accompanied or a cappella.

Second round: Acting, movement, and music theatre

If you’re successful in the first round, you’ll be informed of the preparation required for the second round. In a workshop session with several teachers you’ll be challenged to demonstrate your talents and skills in music, acting and movement.

After the second round, you will hear from the committee whether you have been admitted to the Music Theatre preparatory programme.
