Dance Preparatory Programme - Preparatory Programme - Enschede

Why choose the Dance preparatory programme?

Primary school pupil in year 7 or 8

Are you in year 7 or 8 of primary school and already know that you want to become a professional dancer? Or do you love dancing, but don't know what you want to do with it yet? Starting at a young age is especially important when it comes to dancing. So sign up for the Dance orientation class. It's the perfect way to find out if dancing is right for you. After the orientation class, you can audition for the Preparatory Dance Programme for secondary school pupils.

Secondary school pupil

Are you about to start secondary school (or are you already there) and want to take your dance training seriously? That's not easy at a regular secondary school! That's why there is the ArtEZ Preparatory Dance Programme. We are part of Het Stedelijk Lyceum Kottenpark in Enschede. This school for HAVO, VWO/Atheneum and Gymnasium is one of twelve DaMu schools in the Netherlands. With a tailored curriculum, you can still earn your school diploma, even if you are busy with dance lessons, projects and performances.

You can also follow this programme in Arnhem and Venlo.

Professional dance education and school

With the ArtEZ Preparatory Dance Programme, you receive professional dance education and obtain your school diplomas. Everything is housed under one roof at Het Stedelijk Kottenpark. You learn to develop physically and mentally as a dancer, so that you grow in a healthy way as a dancer.

Focus on the dance artist in you

We lay a solid foundation in dance technique, with an emphasis on contemporary dance. But we also focus on your individuality as an artist. You will also gain insight into the many career opportunities within the dance profession. What do you want to be when you grow up? A performing dancer, choreographer, dance teacher, dance critic or something else? The preparatory course is an excellent preparation for an audition for a higher professional education programme in dance.

Personal development

In addition to dance technique and artistry, you will work on other skills that are very useful to dancers. These include self-expression and presentation, collaboration, standing up for who you are, dealing with chaos, improvisation and creativity. Former students say that the preparatory course also helped them develop as people.
