This training is open to music therapists interested in using NMT™ methodology and techniques, as well as professionals from other disciplines, such as physiotherapists, speech therapists and other (para)medical professions, who are interested in neurological music therapy (NMT™).
The 4-day, 30-hour NMT™ basic training course will provide therapists with advanced clinical training and scientific knowledge in the field of NMT™. Upon completion of this course, participants will:
- Demonstrate a basic definition and introductory knowledge of neurological music therapy (NMT), including the taxonomy of techniques used in NMT™;
- Demonstrate an increased knowledge of current research supporting NMT™ techniques;
- Demonstrate practical knowledge of the Transformational Design Model, a model to assist in the selection of treatments based on functional goals;
- Identify recent clinical assessments that can be used by NMT™s for treatment evaluation;
- Answer basic questions about neuroanatomy and pathology related to various neurological disorders.
