Why choose the minor Artisteducator in Film?
This minor is for students who want to explore film as both an artistic and an educational medium. Perhaps you come from theatre, dance, visual arts, music or another artistic discipline, and you want to discover what film can add to your practice as a maker and educator.
You don't need any technical film experience. During the minor, you learn to work with script, camera, sound, production and editing, among other things. What matters more is curiosity, an inquiring attitude and the ambition to develop a project of your own that relates to people and the world around you.
That is why your film doesn't come about only behind a desk or in a studio. You go out and connect with a place, a community or a context. You explore what is going on there and, with an open attitude, look for encounter, reciprocity and collaboration.
Film education is developing fast. The regional film education hubs and the Netwerk Filmeducatie (Film Education Network) are working to give film a stronger position in education and society. This minor prepares you for a professional practice in which filmmaking, social engagement and education are increasingly connected.
