Title and degree

After successfully completing the master’s programme, you will earn the title Master of Music (MMus).

This programme is listed in the RIO (Register of Institutions and Programmes) under code 44739. The formal programme name is Master Muziek – this name will appear on your diploma.

After graduating

Through your experience in the Performance Lab, residencies and practice-based projects, you will master the entire process – from concept and rehearsal to presentation and evaluation. This will make you employable as a soloist or ensemble member, as well as a programmer, curator or project leader with a strong network and the ability to realise artistic ideas. You will speak the language of both artistic content and professional practice – planning, partnerships, audience engagement – increasing the impact of organisations and your own projects.

Many alumni combine teaching with performing, often in ensembles and frequently through projects they produce themselves. Some also take on production or project roles within festivals and organisations. This creates a broad, flexible professional practice in which artistic, educational and organisational work strengthen one another – enabling you to build a sustainable career in music.

With your master’s diploma, you will:

  • position yourself as a musician at master’s level with a well-developed artistic signature;
  • design and programme meaningful concerts and projects that connect content, context and audience;
  • build and activate networks – with makers, venues, festivals and social partners – and use collaboration strategically;
  • reach and grow your audience, both existing and new, through formats that suit concert halls, festivals, education or community contexts;
  • support your artistic choices through research and document your results clearly;
  • translate your craft into contemporary themes – such as diverse contexts, sustainability and audience inclusion – without compromising artistic quality;
  • navigate the professional field confidently, from funding and partnerships to production, communication and post-project reflection.
