You follow iMAE at ArtEZ Academy of Theatre & Dance in Arnhem: the cultural capital of the east, with a rich fashion history and a vibrant art scene.
At iMAE, our studio in Klarendal function as research centres. These open space allows you to develop artistic ideas and share them directly with peers.
Whether in Arnhem or Northern Ireland, the studio always serves as a research and community centre. Here you meet others, share ideas and develop projects into artistic prototypes that can enter the public sphere.
As an international artist-educator, you often work in challenging, complex contexts. That is why we introduced Site-Specific Colleges (SSCs). They bridge learning inside the academy and in real-world settings.
At each location, you collaborate with local artists and cultural activists in communities affected by conflict, migration, social marginalisation, intolerance and racism.
Part of your studies take place at our Site-Specific Colleges (SSCs). Past SSCs have been held in Morocco, Belgium, Northern Ireland and the Netherlands.
Each SSC is developed in collaboration with local organisations, such as cultural institutions, schools, universities and community groups. As an iMAE student, your presence turns these locations into spaces for research, artivism and education. At each SSC, you will explore research questions with local communities and connect them to your own artistic and educational goals. SSCs offer a unique chance to live, work and learn on location while building a professional portfolio that strengthens your career prospects after graduating.
