What you'll learn

The First Sounds training is based on music psychotherapy. Participants work together with an interdisciplinary medical music therapy team and practise experiential, practical interventions. Using the core instruments Rhythm, Breath & Lullaby kit, Tier 1 competencies are achieved. This international, evidence-based NICU training consists of three pillars:

• Environmental Music Therapy (music therapy in the care environment),
• trauma-oriented music psychotherapy for parents and caregivers,
• live music therapy interventions for premature babies.

After completing Tier 1 and Tier 2, Tier 3 follows: a clinical internship under the supervision of a fully trained NICU music therapist. For more information about Tier 3, please contact a.jaschke@artez.nl.

All participants will receive a certificate. Registration with the Register Vaktherapie (Professional Therapy Register) is required. Please note: completion of the RBL MT NICU training (T1 and T2) does not authorise you to work outside the scope of your own professional registration and qualifications.
