Trainer: Famke Sinninghe Damsté

Famke Sinninghe Damsté, head of ArtEZ's Art-Based Learning Centre, has been combining teaching with creative practice in arts education and the arts for 20 years. After studying Light Music Singing and Dutch, she began working as an editor in radio, culminating in her VPRO series “I could write a book”, about Dutch writers and jazz. In 2011, she founded Maanstrand, under which banner she produces CDs, books and art education projects. In 2017, she obtained a Master's degree in Art Education from the Amsterdam University of the Arts. There, she researched the relationship between art education and Bildung, which brought her into contact with the Art-Based Learning method of Jeroen Lutters and Janeke Wienk.

Theory: Dr Jeroen Lutters

No one can explain the Art-Based Learning method better than Dr Jeroen Lutters, lecturer in Art Education as Critical Tactics (AeCT) at ArtEZ University of the Arts. He is the founder and creator of the ABL methodology. He takes art as a source of knowledge for existential questions.
This art can consist of paintings, sculptures, but also books, films or other forms of artistic expression. In four theoretical and philosophical videos, he takes you through his thinking on art and cultural education today. Naturally, he explains the four steps of Art-Based Learning from a personal perspective.
