What you'll learn

The tailor-made Music in Education programme focuses on music education for children, young people and other target groups in our diverse and colourful society. You will be trained as a skilled musician and teacher, and learn to inspire young and old alike with your enthusiasm for music. In this way, the significance of music for people will take centre stage.

In addition to teaching, you could also work as a choir conductor or ensemble leader, at music schools or in the educational departments of orchestras, ensembles or opera companies. You might also explore leading meaningful social-artistic projects and other initiatives as an independent musical entrepreneur. Many graduates combine different roles and work in several places.

A music teacher diploma in two or three years

Are you working in music or education and would like to expand your skills and qualifications? With the Tailor-made Music in Education programme at the ArtEZ Academy of Music in Zwolle, you can obtain your first-degree teaching qualification! You will attend class once a week on Wednesdays.

• If you have a bachelor's degree in music, music therapy or musicology, you can complete this programme in two years.
• If you have (or are about to obtain) a PABO diploma or a bachelor's degree from another teacher training programme, you can complete this programme in three years.

In this shortened programme, you will have class one day a week, together with your fellow students who are also following the shortened programme. If you are doing the three-year programme, you will have lessons for an additional half-day on top of your one day of class.
