Study programme

Throughout the programme, there is a strong focus on creative processes such as composing, arranging and improvising, designing your own lessons and teaching materials, and conducting research. Through lessons, internships, assignments, excursions and cultural visits, you will also be prepared to teach CKV (culture and art) and art in general.

The study programme for the Tailored Music Teacher training course in Zwolle is practice-oriented and varied, and consists of the following components:

You will develop your own artistic skills as a musician during individual and group lessons, together with your fellow students who are also following this special tailored music teacher curriculum.

You will learn to work with pupils through your job in education or through an extracurricular internship. You will develop your own competencies as a music teacher and focus on your practical experiences in your programme.

In the theory subjects, you will delve into arranging/music writing, ear training, arranging and instrumentation, music history and cultural studies.

Research

In addition to the research you do as part of your programme, ArtEZ offers additional opportunities for in-depth study. If you are looking for more ways to grow and challenge yourself, you can choose to participate in the Honours Lab. There, you will delve into theories and research relevant to your artistic practice.

Music & Health

Musicians are subject to intense physical and mental demands. That is why at ArtEZ we pay close attention to making music in a healthy, sustainable way. We do this primarily during project days and weeks. You will follow a series of lessons on healthy voice use and learn to recognise and prevent work-related complaints.
