After successfully completing the Tailor-Made Music in Education programme, you are awarded the degree Bachelor of Music in Education (BEd). This programme is listed in the Dutch national register of higher education programmes, the Centraal Register Opleidingen Hoger Onderwijs (CROHO), under code 39112. The formal programme name under which it is registered in CROHO is Bachelor Docent Muziek. This CROHO name will appear on your diploma.
The professional field for music teachers is broad. After graduating, you can work in education as a music teacher or as a teacher of Cultural and Artistic Education (CKV). Many students even obtain a teaching position while they are still studying.
Some of our alumni have used the organisational skills they developed to become team leaders or assistant principals in schools. Others work as composers and conductors. You can also work at a music school – or set one up yourself – or join the education department of an orchestra, ensemble or opera company. All our alumni find a job in the field within one year of graduating.
Please note: this programme is being discontinued and no new students are being admitted. You can still study Tailor-Made Music in Education at the ArtEZ Academy of Music in Zwolle.
“During music lessons there is no confusion about language. Pupils who are usually withdrawn really stand out in music class. They completely blossom there!”
After completing the Tailor-Made Music in Education programme, you can also continue your studies, for example with the Master’s in Arts Education (Kunsteducatie) or the Artist Educator master’s at ArtEZ.
