You will become a confident, autonomous designer who handles complexity, takes creative risks, and sees failure as part of the process.
All classes are studio based and project driven. Core classes include Product Design, Accessories Design, Ceramic Design, Social Design, and Discursive Design. Skills-based classes like Digital Prototyping and Design Research provide a strong technical foundation. Theory Seminars like Art History, Design Context, and Philosophy offer critical perspectives.
Each project starts with hands-on exploration. You experiment with wood, metal, ceramics, digital fabrication, and more. You work independently and collaboratively, sometimes with partners like NEMO, Camper, or Nederlands Openlucht Museum.
While all students follow the same curriculum structure, you’re encouraged to develop your own approach within it. You build a broad foundation that allows you to discover your talents while developing a holistic understanding of the discipline. This gives you flexibility to specialise or work across domains.
The curriculum introduces urgent themes like sustainability, inclusivity, and technological change. Not as fixed answers, but as questions for you to explore. You're encouraged to develop your own position and learn to defend it.
