Career opportunities

The demand for music therapists is growing rapidly. The positive impact of music therapy is becoming increasingly clear; for example, in the treatment of age-related conditions such as dementia or in supporting premature babies. Our graduates work in many different sectors and with a wide range of people:

  • Anne-Greet Ravensberger was offered a position as a music therapist after her internship in the neonatology department at the University Medical Centre Groningen (UMCG).
  • Yesim Saltik works as a music therapist in Turkey, providing training for older adults. She does this on behalf of ArtEZ as part of the MIDDEL research project, which studies music interventions for people with dementia in six countries.
  • Charity Chin continued her studies in the Master’s in Music Therapy, where she is researching gamification in therapy. She also coaches students in the TechLab and works as a music therapist in psychiatry.

Further study

After completing your bachelor’s programme, you can choose to continue studying. The Master’s in Music Therapy allows you to deepen your expertise and explore new areas such as technological innovation, community building and adaptive expertise. Would you like to teach? Then you can follow the Tailor-Made BA Music in Education in Enschede or Zwolle – a two-year programme that qualifies you to work as a music teacher.
