After completing the programme, you will receive a Bachelor of Music diploma. You may then use the title Bachelor of Music (BMus). This programme is registered in the Registratie Instellingen en Opleidingen (RIO) under programme code 34739.
If you graduate from the Music Theatre bachelor's programme at the Academy of Music in Arnhem, you will hold the Bachelor of Music title. Your versatility, knowledge of various disciplines and ability to collaborate with different artists will give you many opportunities in the job market. You might choose to become a performer, but you could also work as a music theatre teacher or director. Many graduates have a few jobs and, in addition, perform musically as part of a piece they have devised themselves. You will have skills in both music and theatre, and you will know how to give other art disciplines a place in your work, as you have already learned to collaborate with many diverse partners. Your broad range of skills and employability will be highly valued in the field.
As the Bachelor Music Theatre is not yet fifteen years old, we are a relatively young programme. Despite that, many Music Theatre alumni are already working in exciting places, for example, at the visual music theatre company Het Houten Huis, the dance company Club Guy & Roni or the production house De Nieuwe Oost, to name just a few. You can also find our alumni at festivals such as Cement, Karavaan, Over het IJ, Operadagen and Oerol.
You can specialise further with the Master Music Theatre or the Master Performance Practices. Or take the two-year Tailor-made Music in Education in Zwolle for a first-degree teaching qualification. If you choose the Tailor-made Music in Education programme as a second bachelor’s degree, you will pay only half the amount of the tuition fee.
Many of our students become self-employed after graduating, or they combine a salaried position with entrepreneurship. That is one of the reasons why ArtEZ places strong emphasis on entrepreneurship, both during and after your studies.
