Upon completion of the programme, you are awarded the degree Bachelor of Music in Education You will be entitled to use the official title Bachelor of Music in Education (BEd). This programme is listed in the Central Register of Higher Education Programmes (CROHO) under number 39112.
Your degree includes a Dutch first-degree teaching qualification in music, general arts and cultural and artistic education. This allows you to work as a music teacher in education. You could also become a choir conductor or ensemble leader, work at a music school or start your own. There are many more possibilities. For example, you can develop music teaching methods, or work for the education department of an orchestra, ensemble or opera company. As an independent entrepreneur, you could set up community arts projects.

Your chances of finding a suitable job are high. In fact, all our Music in Education graduates in recent years have found work. Many as music teachers in secondary education, and a lot of others as freelance workers in the music sector.
Jasper, an alumnus of the programme, shares his story:
‘A year after completing my degree, I was offered a permanent contract at Meander College in Zwolle. I also teach at ArtEZ Academy of Music. In addition, I spend my evenings and weekends making music — performing with various bands and ensembles, and conducting several choirs.’
