Prepare well

Start a programme at AKI ArtEZ Academy of Art & Design?

Visit one of our open days and experience the atmosphere of the academy. You can talk to lecturers and students, have your portfolio reviewed, attend information sessions and ask questions. You can also explore the workshops, classrooms and student work on display.

Get inspired

To prepare well, you can start exploring art and design. Visit exhibitions and browse platforms such as MetropolisM, Kunstbeeld, Frame, DAMn and Dezeen.

Each year you can also visit the academy’s finals exhibition. This usually takes place in June or July and presents work created by fourth-year students for their graduation.

Portfolio

For the first round, you submit the following digitally:

  • Portfolio
Create a single PDF file of up to 50 MB containing between 20 and 100 pieces of work. This can include photography, drawings, videos and other visual material. Add short descriptions so we can better understand your process and the choices you make. Your work does not need to be perfect: we welcome sketchbooks, intermediate steps and experiments. Video material (maximum 15 minutes) can be included via a YouTube or Vimeo link.
  • Motivation letter
Write a motivation letter of 300 to 500 words explaining why you want to follow the Crossmedia Design programme. Describe the direction you want to take and the challenges you expect along the way.

Send your letter and portfolio by email to office.aki@artez.nl. For large files, we recommend using WeTransfer. If your portfolio does not meet the requirements, you will receive a rejection. If the committee evaluates your work positively, you will be invited for the admissions interview.
