Admission

After your application via Studielink, you will receive an email with instructions explaining how the admissions process works. Admission is a way to get to know each other: to see whether you are a good fit for the programme, and for you to see whether this programme is what you’re looking for. On this page you can read what admission involves and what you need to submit.

What do we look for?

During admission, we look at who you are and how you work. Alongside final outcomes, also show us your process. How did you arrive at an idea? What worked, and what didn’t? This way, you take us through your line of thought.

We look at:

  • Your creativity. You are able to express yourself visually, to work from observation as well as from concept. You show an understanding of and sensitivity to colour, form and material. Your work is original and distinctive.
  • Your motivation and communication skills. You share your fascinations and sources of inspiration, and you show determination and discipline.
  • The extent to which you demonstrate an investigative and experimental attitude. You are curious and have a genuine interest in culture, art and design.

First round

For the first round of admission, you submit a digital portfolio and a motivation letter. Based on these, we decide whether you will be invited for an admission interview. For tips on your portfolio, see prepare well.

Second round

The admission interview lasts about 30 minutes and takes place either on location in Enschede or online. During this conversation, we assess your critical reflection and communication skills.
