A week focused on playing together, based on a theme, musician, genre or style period.
Workshops and masterclasses by guest lecturers focused on your specific instrument. Students from Arnhem and Zwolle who are studying the same major will come together on the first day to follow a joint programme with the guest lecturer. On the second day, there will be a band in residence in both Arnhem and Zwolle. One will be more pop-oriented, the other more jazz-oriented. Students can choose in which city they want to attend masterclasses and workshops.
Shift your focus to another main subject or the perspective of another lecturer and attend classes taught by another lecturer of your choice from the programme.
The Vocal Department at Jazz & Pop Zwolle organises an annual theatre tour with ArtEZ on tour, focusing on the repertoire of a well-known Dutch theatre personality. In the past, the theatre tour has featured Ramses Shaffy, Henny Vrienten, Lennart Nijgh, Annie M.G. Schmidt, Jules de Corte, Ivo de Wijs, Maarten van Rozendaal, Drs. P. and Brigitte Kaandorp.
Projects in collaboration with the Classical Music and Music Teacher programmes. A location-wide project week with concerts, workshops, and masterclasses on themes such as non-Western music and the human voice.
Producing music with professionals from the music industry: that is the #MusicRevolution project of the Jazz & Pop bachelor's programme in Zwolle. During this project, talented young musicians from Deltion, ArtEZ Jazz & Pop and de Fakkelteit joined forces with Hedon Production House in the studio. At various times throughout the year, several renowned musicians share their lessons and hands-on tips with students. In the past, these have included John Clayton, Bertolf, Nelson Faria, Sabrina Starke, Miroslav Vitous, Gino Vannelli, McClenty Hunter, Bob Reynolds, John Beasley & Robby Ameen, The Yellowjackets, Peter Bernstein, Ney Conceição, BIGYUKI, Philip Catherine, Michael Abene, Dries Bijlsma and others.
As a musician, you can sometimes face high physical and mental demands. That is why at ArtEZ we devote plenty of attention to healthy music-making, especially during project days and weeks. You take part in a series of classes on healthy voice use and learn to recognise and prevent work-related strain and complaints.
