In the Jazz & Pop bachelor’s programme in Arnhem, you develop your own musical personality. This grows from both artistic and technical development. Your principal-study teachers teach you the craft in a truly hands-on way. They help you master your instrument down to the finest details. Just as important is developing artistically and deciding which musical direction you want to take. This development is supported and guided by a range of subjects, (guest) lecturers and bands. You are introduced to all kinds of styles, but as your studies progress you choose how you want to specialise. It’s all about developing your personal artistic vision and voice, collaborating with others and exploring new paths.
At ArtEZ Conservatorium in Arnhem you are given the freedom to explore. You have the unique opportunity to collaborate with other music programmes based in the same building, such as Music Theatre and Composition for Film and Theatre, as well as with other disciplines including dance, theatre, design, fine art, writing and fashion.
By the end of the programme, you are ready to start your own professional practice. Your instrument is central, but you also gain practical skills in music technology, songwriting, artistic research, teaching and physical health in performance. You also get to know key aspects of the business side of a musical career: for example, how to use social media, organise tours and manage the financial side of your practice.
