Jazz & Pop - Bachelor - Arnhem

What will you learn?

Creating and performing your own work. That is what you learn on the English-taught bachelor’s programme Jazz & Pop at ArtEZ Conservatorium in Arnhem. Become a skilled, versatile musician who dares to make their own choices.

Eighteen majors

With eighteen majors, you are guided by broadly oriented, renowned tutors who can support you across many areas. The programme’s clear structure fosters close contact between students and tutors who are near at hand. Because professional musicians often teach as part of their practice, we also devote plenty of attention to education. We assume that, after graduating, you will teach in some form. That can take many shapes, but thanks to the programme you will always be equipped to do so.

Learning to reflect

Reflecting on your own artistic work and that of others plays an important role in developing your own voice as a musician and maker, and in sharing your work with the outside world. You are guided throughout this gradual process of development.

Playing together

Ensemble playing is central here. You form bands and duos with fellow students, in which you study and develop both existing repertoire and your own work, with guidance from your teachers. You also gain extensive experience in live performance.

Business, education and music technology

Because of the realities of today’s professional music world, we pay a lot of attention to business, education and music technology. We see these three elements as essential parts of a contemporary music practice. An introduction to these topics is therefore a fixed part of the programme. On top of that, we offer several elective courses that allow you to deepen and broaden your knowledge of these areas.

Study guidance

The student counsellor, your go-to for questions and concerns, is also there to support your decision-making in the specialisation.

ArtEZ finals

At the end of the academic year, all our students present their work during ArtEZ finals. If you are considering studying at ArtEZ, a visit to the finals is highly recommended.
