The introductory class is an opportunity to meet the lecturer and get a good idea of your level and potential. You can also go through the set parts of a later entrance exam with the lecturer. Request a class and indicate the desired programme and major. Let us know which lecturer you’d like to meet – we’ll see what we can do.
Please note: introductory lessons are only available between December and March.

Upon completion of the entrance examination, the admission committee submits your results to the ArtEZ Academy of Music Exam Board. The board checks whether the procedure has been carried out correctly and decides whether or not to admit you to the programme. You’re notified of the outcome in writing.
An offer of admission is only valid for the programme you have applied for. If you’re interested in another programme or specialisation at a different location, you’ll need to apply separately. Admission is valid only for the academic year following the entrance exam. If you’d you like to start a year later, please submit a written request to the Exam Board to delay your admission by one year.
If you disagree with a rejection because you don’t believe that the correct procedure was followed, you may appeal to the Exam Board.
Should the songs from my preselection videos also feature in my setlist?
You may use the same songs, but you don’t have to. You may use three completely different songs for the preselection. You may change your setlist up to two weeks before your audition.
Do I also need band accompaniment for the preselection videos?
For all instruments except vocals, band accompaniment isn’t required in preselection videos, but it is preferred.
Can I take the entrance exam online?
Yes, if you live further than 500 km from Arnhem, you can take the entrance exam online. Request this in your application via Studielink or via email if you’ve already applied. For technical requirements for online entrance exams, visit the page Technical requirements.
I want to hire the student band to accompany me during my audition. Can we rehearse beforehand?
No, you cannot rehearse with the Jazz & Pop students prior to your audition. You can warm up with them for fifteen minutes before your audition.
Can I also play a solo piece during my audition?
You don’t have to play all the prepared pieces in a band setting. You may play some pieces in smaller ensembles or solo. However, you are required to play the majority of songs together with a band.
Do I need a laptop to study at Jazz & Pop Arnhem?
Yes, you must have a laptop (Mac or Windows). You’re personally responsible for hardware and DAW software (Logic, Cubase or freeware like Studio One).
