Illustration Design - Bachelor - Zwolle

Upload your work

Upload your digital portfolio

For the first selection round, you will need to submit your digital portfolio, in which you show your visual artwork and work you have produced for the homework assignment (you will receive this after you have applied). You will also explain your work in the form of a video.

Based on these, we will decide whether to invite you to the second round: the admission day.

What we look for in your application

In both selection rounds – your submitted work and the interview – we are interested not only in what you create, but especially in who you are as a creator.  Our team will look at:

  • How you handle visual artwork: Can you imagine something from what you see, feel or conceive? Do you have a sense of colour, form and materials? And do we see something of you in the work?
  • How you communicate: Can you tell us where your fascination comes from? Do you share your ideas? And do you show that you are motivated and determined?
  • How you look and explore: Are you curious? Are you interested in art and culture? And do you want to continue discovering and learning about illustration?

We are not looking for a perfect portfolio, but for the beginning of a personal perspective, something that invites us to start a conversation with you.

Portfolio tips

We would like to see what you have been creating in recent years, whether at home, at school or on a course.  Your portfolio can take various forms, from drawings to digital work.

  • Show work that you have created yourself in the past three years.
  • Take different types of work with you, such as drawings, paintings, photos, animations, websites, clothing, furniture or posters.
  • The work may be either flat or three-dimensional.
  • Also show sketches, samples and intermediate steps. That will give us an idea of how you work.
  • Choose work that clearly represents who you are as a creator.
  • Make sure you can tell us something about what you made and why.

During open days, you can have your portfolio reviewed and receive tips from students and lecturers.
