In four years, you will develop into a creator with your own style, vision and message. You will start with a broad, research-oriented approach. With your curiosity and willingness to experiment, you will finish with a graduation project that truly reflects who you are.
You will become acquainted with the field of illustration in all its breadth. You will take subjects on such topics as editorial illustration, narrative illustration, new media illustration, typography, visual research and observation. You will learn to work with different materials and techniques, and you will explore your fascinations in a fun way.
You will work increasingly on the basis of your own content and develop your own personal visual language. You will take subjects with a specific focus and work on projects in which you can experiment with style, form and meaning. You will also learn how illustrations can communicate with an audience or client.
You will have more space to shape your programme yourself. In projects and individual research, you will explore your role as an illustrator in society. You will draw up a growth document in which you state your plans and motivation and you will prepare for your internship and graduation year.
You will do an internship, write a thesis and work on your graduation project. You will develop work that aligns with your voice as a creator and present it at the ArtEZ finals. During this year you will work to a large extent independently, with guidance from lecturers in the field.
