During your programme you will complete a number of internships. You will learn in practical terms what it means to be a teacher or artist educator. You will receive expert guidance and develop step by step in teaching, guiding groups and designing educational materials. For internships, the Fine Art and Design in Education programme in Zwolle works with schools in the region and other partners in the field.
In the second year you will do a 12-week internship in secondary education, working at a school two days a week. You will learn how to structure a lesson, how to respond to a class and how to adapt your work to different levels. You will not be alone: you will be guided by lecturers on the programme and by your internship supervisor at school.
In your third year, you will choose your own internship placement. This could be at another school, but also at a museum or a cultural institution. You will consider what is important to you as a creator and artist educator. You will explore how to convey a story, how to do justice to diversity and how to shape education that aligns with your vision.
In the fourth year, you will test your self-designed educational project in practice. This could be a lesson series, a game or another instruction method. You will choose an internship where you can try out and improve your design. That means you will complete your programme with solid practical experience.
