You will get to know all aspects of the programme. You will work on your visual skills and take subjects such as art and cultural history, philosophy and education. You will also do a short exploratory internship in secondary education. In your first year, you can also apply for the Honours Lab, as a supplement to the theoretical part of your own bachelor’s programme. This programme takes place outside your regular study days.
You will deepen your skills in technique, theory and teaching. In the second semester, you will do an internship in secondary education one or two days per week. You will design lessons, practise counselling students and receive close guidance from the programme.
You choose where you do your internship; For example, at a school, museum or cultural organisation. During your internship, you will explore how you want to teach, how you approach topics like assessment and inclusivity, and how you can create space for alternative ways of thinking. At the same time, you will continue to develop your artistic work independently.
You will independently develop an educational design – such as a lesson series, teaching method or other format – and test it in practice during your graduation internship. You will also create a body of personal work, which you will present during the ArtEZ finals. You will graduate with a strong foundation as a maker, educator – or both.
