After submitting your application in Studielink, you will receive an invitation for the admission days at the ArtEZ Academy of Art & Design in Arnhem. This invitation includes a link to download the home assignment.
On this day you are invited for an interview on the academy with an admission committee of two teachers and two students. (not online!)
This interview consists of:
- A conversation about motivation and general interest.
- Assessment of the home assignment. You have received this assignment after registering in Studielink. You complete it at home and bring it with you to the entrance exam.
- Assessment of your portfolio. This does should mainly contain sketches, process and designs that gives the committee insight in how you think and create.
If you pass the admissions round on the first day, you will be invited to participate in the practical part of the exam the following day from 09:30 until 16:30.
You will complete a design assignment on site, within a set timeframe.
The next week, the admission committee will advise the ArtEZ Exam Board on your admission, based on the results of the interview and the assessment made at ArtEZ. The Exam Board checks whether the admissions process has been carried out correctly and ultimately will decide whether to extend you an offer of admission.
During the entrance exam, your artistic and creative ability, originality and drawing skills will be assessed based on three competences:
- Creative ability: you can express yourself visually, based on observation as well as on concept. You have a sense of color, shape, materials, three-dimensional space, composition etc. Your work shows originality and creativity.
- Communication skills: you can share your interests and inspiration clearly. You are motivated, disciplined and able to engage others in your ideas.
- Critical reflection: you are curious and experimental, and you show a strong interest in art and culture.
