Design Art Technology - Bachelor - Arnhem

Programme per year

In the first year, you will explore new perspectives, concepts and techniques. You will discover where your interests lie and build a basic creative toolkit, developing a new way of seeing the world. Through hands-on assignments, you will learn by doing and take your first steps in your creative process.

You will take subjects such as Methodology, Fundamentals, Artistic Research and Poetic Systems. In the academy’s workshops, you will create new work and collaborate with your fellow students.

In the second year, you build on the foundation from year one. You will delve deeper into the field through subjects such as Sound Design, Media Theory, Inventing Instruments, Creative Technology and Coding Studio. You will take more risks, follow your own interests and create more complex installations while remaining critical and socially aware.

In the third year, you focus on your own position within the field. You will explore your creativity from an open and independent perspective, creating work that reflects the professional direction you may soon take. New subjects include Digital Art, Engineering Studio, Solidarity and a collective field research project with an external partner. In all these subjects, you will experience the strength of multidisciplinary collaboration – the heart of the programme.

Your final year begins with a three-month internship with a renowned international artist or studio. You will gain valuable professional experience and prepare for your future career. After this internship, you will write an essay outlining the theoretical framework for your research project. In the final five months, you will work on multiple versions and presentations, culminating in your graduation project – your opportunity to present yourself and your work to the world.
