BEAR Fine Art - Bachelor - Arnhem

Prepare well

Start a programme at ArtEZ Academy of Art & Design Arnhem

Visit one of our open days to experience the atmosphere at the academy. You can talk to lecturers and students, have your portfolio reviewed, attend information sessions and ask questions. You can also explore the workshops, classrooms and student work.

Get inspired

To prepare well, you can start exploring art and design. Visit exhibitions and browse platforms such as MetropolisM, Kunstbeeld, Frame, DAMn and Dezeen.

Each year you can also visit the academy’s finals exhibition. This usually takes place in June or July and presents work created by fourth-year students for their graduation.

Portfolio

Once your application via Studielink has been received, you will receive information about the date of the entrance exam (online or on location) and instructions for uploading your home assignments and portfolio via OSIRIS. Please submit these no later than one week before the admission round you have selected.

Portfolio tips

  • Show three-dimensional work, such as furniture, clothing or other objects. Do not limit your portfolio to drawings or paintings alone.
  • Include work that you have created independently, such as sketches, drawings or experiments you did outside of school. We especially value this kind of work.
  • Show not only the final results, but also the process that led to them. How did you develop your idea? What worked and what didn’t?
  • Practise observational drawing. During the programme, you will work extensively with hand-drawn sketches. Draw a spatial observation in your sketchbook every day.
  • Select your best work and present it clearly and coherently.
  • Get early feedback – at our open days, you can have your portfolio reviewed and receive tips from lecturers and students.
