Artisteducator in Theatre - Bachelor - Arnhem

Why Artisteducator in Theater?

Theater adds vibrancy to life, offering solace, recognition, and beauty. In the Artisteducator in Theater course (formerly titled Theatre in Education), you will learn to engage, stimulate, and cultivate the artistic expression of others through your own artistry.

You will evolve into an artist who makes a meaningful impact, embraces a critical mindset, and shares compelling stories on both national and international stages. As an artisteducator, you will excel at connecting, creating, moving, shaping, and listening.

Create a movement

By creating works for theater, you will learn to instigate change around social issues and vital questions.

An inspiring environment

You will be working in a challenging and inspiring interdisciplinary learning environment with modern studios and theaters for performing artists.

Equality as the starting point

Equality is the starting point, both between students and teachers and in the theater works you create with groups in society.

Experience during the course

By working on contextual projects and internships in the Netherlands and abroad, your work will reflect meaningful topics to your surrounding local and global community.

More than a teacher

The Artisteducator in Theatre bachelor's programme in Arnhem trains you to be a theater artist and artisteducator with a teaching qualification for primary education, secondary education, MBO education and all other forms of education. You will:

  • have the ability to connect with others through artistic experiences;
  • demonstrate that it is possible to make an impact on society and to change lives through the means of theater;
  • have an inquisitive attitude towards the professional field going forward, from your own perspective.

Be a part of the next generation of artisteducators

As a creator, you know how to connect with people and what touches them, and you can utilise theater to initiate action. Making theater and coaching, and inspiring others to do the same, cannot be seen in isolation from one another; they are inextricably linked. That is why our Artisteducator in Theatre course does not train you as a traditional theater teacher but as an "artisteducator," an educator with an inquisitive attitude who creates and teaches from equality and commitment.

After the programme, you could find a role in intramural or extramural education or in the educational department of a theatre company or museum. No matter what you do, you will be making a difference in society.
