Artisteducator in Theatre & Media - Bachelor - Zwolle

Programme per year

Studios

Studios are at the heart of the first year of the programme. Each studio lasts five weeks. You’ll work with realistic cases and projects, using design thinking as your starting point. There are timetabled learning activities, but there is also room for your own development. You’ll work both collaboratively and individually on prototypes.

Research Art Together (RAT)

In the three-year interdisciplinary programme RAT (Research Art Together), you’ll explore research together with students from years 1, 2, and 3 of Music Education, Artisteducator in Theatre & Media, and Art & Design Education. You’ll learn about art across all disciplines, forms, and time periods and the connections between them.

Mondays

Every week is Monday. This is a fixed part of the programme. On this day, you pause to focus on your development. You reflect on your studies and ask for input from lecturers and fellow students. You keep track of your planning and manage your time.

The main phase is all about connecting with others. You’ll research the place you’re going to and the people who are there. This phase also includes an exchange with international students.

Building blocks

At the heart of the main phase are four building blocks. Each building block lasts ten to twelve weeks. Based on your learning questions, you choose the order in which you complete them yourself. The building blocks are Nomad, Research/Mixed Media, Education and Educational Development, and Exile.

In Nomad, you work in groups at different locations. In Research/Mixed Media, you explore artistic research and technology, and investigate a making process together with external partners. Education and Educational Development teaches you about making within educational contexts. With Exile, we “banish” you from the programme: you go on an internship in the Netherlands or abroad.

Labs

During the labs, you prepare for the building blocks, and at the end you reflect on them. Fixed elements in a lab include an expedition, a (self-directed) research project, a methodology, a making process with a professional maker, and building your network. The central question is: what do you want to learn and develop in the coming period?

Research Art Together (RAT)

You continue with this three-year programme that you started in year 1.

Mondays

And yes, every week is still Monday! You reflect on your development, plan your studies, and ask for input from lecturers and fellow students.

In this year, you design your own building block. You choose the assignment yourself and decide how you want to demonstrate the learning outcomes. You apply all the methods and tools from the programme. This is how you develop your own signature, vision, and position within the professional field.
