De associate degree Interieurvormgever duurt twee jaar. Het ontwerpproces is het uitgangspunt van de opleiding: van experiment en onderzoek tot uitvoering.
The first half of year 1 focuses on general, creative and personal development. You will follow a variety of practical and theoretical subjects, such as Interior, Object, Drawing from observation, and CAD drawing. You will also take workshop courses in photography, woodwork and metalwork. These are required for you to work independently in the workshops.
The ratio between practical and theoretical subjects is about 80% practical and 20% theoretical. In the second semester, the focus shifts to developing your creative and visual abilities, spatial insight and design skills. Research is always the foundation – it provides a theoretical basis for the design phase.
The second year is your graduation year. Together with your classmates, you will choose a graduation theme that serves as the starting point for your own design brief. You will develop a conceptual interior design for an existing building. To do this, you will conduct research into materials, light and design. You will make furniture, objects and interior components from your design in the workshops, at full scale. Before graduating, you will complete a three-month internship and write a paper on a topic related to your field.
