"I am the space where I am."
The Interior Design programme in Zwolle (IN__architecture Ba) trains spatial designers in the full breadth of the field, with great attention given to craft and technique.
We train students to become independent, engaged and critical spatial designers, who have their own views regarding space: interior or exterior space, large or small, with a focus on social sustainability and environmental responsibility.
The world is rapidly changing and therefore, interior designers are always on the lookout for current topics and social ‘urgencies’. You will also test the limits of the field during your study. You will be expected to apply an inquisitive attitude to your work, thus forming a close link between theory and practice.
You will need to possess a natural curiosity regarding people and their concerns and base your designs on their needs. An important aspect of the study programme is social sustainability. Your designs will always incorporate environmental responsibility.
We define Interior Design as the relationship between humans and space. We investigate our knowledge of space, our knowledge of the relationship between the body and space by testing it in reality. We do this by visiting a great variety of spaces during study trips, but also by working with full-size models as much as possible.
