ArtEZ represented at the InSEA World Congress in the Czech Republic

This summer, four ArtEZ colleagues traveled to Olomouc, Czech Republic, to take part in the InSEA (International Society for Education Through Art) World Congress – the leading international platform for art and education. With presentations on doctoral research, publications, and forty years of experience in art education, they showcased the richness and diversity of ArtEZ expertise.

At the July 2025 congress, ArtEZ contributions included:

  • Elsbeth Veldpape, head of the Master of Arts Education in Zwolle, presented her poster Creative Curiosity. Training Teachers for Artistic Research, based on her PhD research at Radboud University Nijmegen.
  • Leontine Broekhuizen, teacher training program DBKV Arnhem, and Janeke Wienk presented A Travel Report: Two Friends, Four Decades, and a Shared Quest for Good Art Education, reflecting on their forty-year joint career in art education.
  • Maeve O Brien-Braun, DBKV Arnhem, shared insights from her PhD research Hearing All their Voices: Secondary School Visual Art Teacher Identity Formation from a Dialogical Perspective.
  • Janeke Wienk also presented her chapter Art as an Existential Foundation in Education in the new InSEA publication Reimagining Art Education: Speculative Pedagogies and Creative Practices, and offered a preview of her forthcoming book with Brill Sense: A Clearing in the Woods.
