Marzio Scholten Americana Trio feat. Hayden Powell (NO / GB)
The Dutch guitarist Marzio Scholten (1982) - from IDENTIKIT - released We Never Left Town in January 2017, a solo guitar album on which he explores simplicity, his love of guitar and American folk music - folk, blues, jazz and country . Together with his Americana Trio - with Sean Fasciani on bass and Niek de Bruijn on drums - he presents the repertoire of We Never Left Town combined with traditionals and arrangements of pop songs.
Scholten has invited trumpeter Hayden Powell (1983) as guest for this series of concerts. The trumpet player living in Norway is seen as one of the greatest Norwegian talents of the moment. Powell's most recent album - Circadian Rhythm and Blues - dates from 2015 and has been well received by the international press. His style moves freely between jazz, improvisation and Scandinavian folk music. Powell plays with Natacha Atlas, Eyolf Dale Wolf Valley and the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra.
The combination of the lyrical, Scandinavian style of the Norwegian trumpet player and the rootsy approach of Scholten's Americana Trio provide earthly and soulful music. An adventurous collaboration, where the emphasis is on sound and songs.
