After an extensive, meticulous internal and external selection procedure, we are delighted to announce that Laurien Timmermans will be joining the board of the ArtEZ Conservatoire on 1 August. Laurien will be responsible for the Zwolle location, joining Rob Kramer, who is to start as director of the Enschede location on 1 May and Juul Diteweg, who is director of the Arnhem location, to form the three-strong board of the ArtEZ Conservatoire.
Laurien has been secretary to the Executive Board and Board of Governors of ArtEZ since June 2009. Over the past three years, she has played an important part in ensuring the administrative continuity of the organisation. Her considerable management and supervisory experience, her affinity with education (art education in particular) and her knowledge of the internal processes at ArtEZ make her the ideal person to inspire the staff in realising the ambitions of the Conservatoire in Zwolle.
Laurien studied cultural anthropology, and has spent her entire professional career working in higher education. After graduating and working in the communication and publicity department of TU Delft, VSNU (the association of universities in the Netherlands) and Utrecht University for several years, she was asked to become manager of post-graduate education at the Utrecht University School of Governance.
