We see when we finally sit down and reflect

Art can take you to another world. Bring new insights. Make you think. That's what Benjamin Francis lets us experience with his graduation work.

After studying for four years at the bachelor's degree in BEAR Fine Art, Benjamin has developed his own view on being an artist, and what the role of an artist should be. Benjamin says that it’s not necessary to tell the audience what the performance is about. The audience can talk to him if they’re interested. But he doesn’t think that sharing his knowledge is the most important thing. He explains: “I think knowledge is there in many ways which we don’t maybe see.”

In short: art communicates in itself.

Students of BEAR Fine Art can graduate with many different types of work: from performance, like Benjamin, to analogue photography, like Anne Schoemaker.

BEAR Fine Art

The bachelor course BEAR Fine Art: Base for Experiment, Art and Research in Arnhem is an internationally oriented course in fine art. You work together with students from all over the world in a dynamic, ambitious, and inquisitive environment. You get your own studio where you work with experts. And you’re guided by teachers that are internationally active artists, art critics and exhibitors. After you graduate, you’ll have developed yourself into a visual artist with your own signature.
