ArtEZ Press's 'Kunst en de zin van het bestaan' on the longlist of the Socratesbeker 2023

The Socratesbeker is awarded every year to the author of the most urgent, original and stimulating Dutch-language philosophy book published in the previous year. In Kunst en de zin van het bestaan published by ArtEZ Press, Onno Zijlstra inspiringly encourages conversation on the question of meaning in connection with thinking about art.

Kunst en de zin van het bestaan was published by ArtEZ just before summer 2022. In this philosophically stimulating book, Onno Zijlstra reflects on how art can tell us more about the meaning of our lives. In 'Kunst en de zin van het bestaan', Onno takes six thinkers by the hand: Kant, Hegel, Schopenhauer, Kierkegaard, Nietzsche and Wittgenstein. What do these six influential philosophers have to say about art and the meaning of life? And how can their thinking still give us guidance in the 21st century?
