About the teacher
I am a singer myself, working as a lead vocalist, backing vocalist and studio singer. In addition, I work as a singing teacher, vocal coach and songwriter.
I have sung in various bands, including The First Showband (all-round pop, rock and Dutch pop), Hot Town (all-round pop), Funkafize It! (funk & soul), P.I.E.N. (jazz & easy listening), D-Licious Vocals (easy pop harmony) and Ambrosia (six-part close harmony).
As a live backing vocalist, I have worked with many well-known Dutch artists, including Frans Bauer, René Froger, Thomas Berge, Wolter Kroes, Ruth Jacott, Glennis Grace, George Baker, Marianne Weber, Belle Perez, BZN, Henk Westbroek and many others.
I also have extensive experience in theatre, large-scale shows and international productions. I have performed in London, Cape Town, Pretoria, Johannesburg, Bucharest, Antwerp, Aarhus, Cluj, Timișoara and Brașov, among other places.
Since October 2006, I have been part of the ArtEZ Academy of Music, where I have had the pleasure of teaching singing as a main subject. I also teach elective courses in Acting & Singing and Jazz Singing. In addition, I am head of the vocal department and involved in exams and assessments.
In my lessons, I believe that safety and enjoyment are an important foundation. From there, we work on technique, musicianship, creativity and, ultimately, the development of true professional craftsmanship.
After all these years, I still find it special to see students grow. Their talent, individuality and the performances they eventually bring to the stage continue to surprise me time and time again.
