Professor of Design

Perica Savanovic 

Professor of Design Perica Savanović explores how design can contribute to social transitions. He sees design both as a creative discipline and as a transformative activity that generates new understanding — laying the foundation for innovation. 

Vision and motivation

Savanović describes his approach as ‘implementing through further development’: advancing original principles and new possibilities simultaneously, in continuous interaction. Through design research, he aims to develop new perspectives, interpretations and prototypes that contribute to broad social change.

Collaboration and impact

Within ArtEZ, Savanović collaborates with students, researchers and industry partners. He plays an active role in NewTexEco, our large research network where five professorships and around thirty professional partners work together to develop a sustainable, circular and regenerative textile sector. He also explores how the interplay between art, design and architecture can lead to new methodologies and visions for the future. 

Bio

Savanović studied Architecture at Delft University of Technology and obtained his PhD at Eindhoven University of Technology with a focus on integrated design. He previously served as Professor of the Built Environment at Inholland University of Applied Sciences and Avans University of Applied Sciences. Alongside his work at ArtEZ, he is a board member of the Association of Professors and a member of the Research Committee of the Association of Universities of Applied Sciences, contributing to the advancement of practice-based research in the Netherlands.
