'Never let the technical side of things interfere with your curiosity. Master your tools, but always keep that child-like sense of wonder for what sound can do.'
About the teacher
Olaf Krause is a composer, music producer, sound engineer, and hurdy-gurdy player whose work spans a wide range of audiovisual and sonic formats.
Alongside his broader work in contemporary media music and audio productions, he specializes through his studio, Audiobonum, in narrative-driven composition infused with historical timbres. Drawing directly from his studies in both Composition for Film & Theatre and Medieval Music, he blends modern storytelling with early musical languages and the distinctive sounds of traditional instruments from Europe and beyond.
In production and sound engineering, he combines technical precision with a deep sensitivity to sound as a creative medium. Every artistic decision—from orchestration and recording to MIDI production and mixing—is dedicated to serving the overarching musical context and the world each piece seeks to create.
His approach to teaching mirrors his approach to composition: both are acts of creation that build a vital bridge between our inner lives and the world around us. Closely connected to his own artistic practice, his work with students fosters an environment of attentive listening, open dialogue, and shared experience, encouraging a sincere and meaningful engagement with both the material and one another.
