'You only fail when you stop trying'
About the lecturer
Marjan Barlage, a graduate of the Toneelacademie Maastricht, is a multidisciplinary theatre maker. She creates devised performances about current affairs, combining live music, dance, acting and video, using material developed by the performers themselves.
She previously worked as a maker with organisations including DOX, 155 and ID Theatre Company and now mainly works as a freelance theatre maker. She coaches makers in the professional field, runs her own TheaterTalentLab at Buitenkunst and teaches at ArtEZ Academy of Music, the Amsterdam University of the Arts (AHK) and HKU University of the Arts Utrecht.
She has also developed two training programmes for performing artists: Emotions from Physical Memory and Authentic Acting. In addition, she gives masterclasses in devised theatre in the professional field.
